pictures, a few days late

so i haven't been very good at this whole picture a day thing, at least not the posting part...but, here are a few new ones. i'm going to for real try to do this thing right, starting...now!

here are some from wednesday when i went out for drinks with a few ppl from work...there were more of us, but my camera ran out of batteries...

and these are from thursday morning, while waiting for my bus...

and the ones below are from last night. we met up with jamie and ben at a nike gallery show thing. it was a photo portrait exhibit of some of nike's latest pieces worn by real people, which eug and i agree was much more appealing than if they had used gorgeous models. the styling was pretty cool, too. the social scene in hong kong is tiny, so a lot of the "models" were at the party.

we then headed over to a reebok fashion party thing, but heard that it was super crowded so then we headed over to some other place, whose name i can't remember. there were more models than usual as i think it's fashion week here. hk is a big hub for models, and because the scene here is very small, they tend to live and socialize amongst us mere mortals. as eug said last night, the models here are more dateable. so i guess he's got a pretty good chance now.

a picture a day

so upon eug's suggestion that i make my blog more than just a thing to keep my loved ones in the loop with my life, i thought perhaps i could take at least one photo a day and post it, whether or not i actually write anything. not so interesting on a day to day basis, but just maybe in ten years time, it will provide some sort of interesting story. or not.

these photos are from yesterday...the first is of james, a creative at ogilvy...and the second one is of alex and jonathan, also creatives, who sit across from me and who are, unfortunately, leaving ogilvy in a month. hopefully they will find a way to stay in HK.

the photos below are from today. that's wei ling - she apparently never takes pictures. and doesn't own photo albums. although...her facebook profile would suggest otherwise (doh! just remembered she got upset at some guy for writing about her in his blog - sorry wei ling!) she also didn't add me to facebook until a month later, because she thought my name said mei lin (rather than mel lin) and because she said that i looked chubbier in my profile pic and didn't recognize me. needless to say, that photo is no more.

the next photo is the view of the restaurants across the street from our apt. brown's has ok brunch. and the place next to it makes yummy congee and rice plates, though i don't even know what it's called. for those of you who know eug, you know we go there quite often. it is after all across the street. and it's good. the few times i've successfully convinced him to go elsewhere in the hood, the food is always a let down. something he doesn't fail to rub in my face. but, i would probably do the same.

the last photo is also from today. and as i write this very sentence, the two food items (a mini hotdog bun - i loved them in ny, and i love them still in HK- and a mini chicken pie) are mere crumbs. and the wine glass needs refilling. eug is off to some dinner with a partner from his co. so i'm fending for myself. pretty pathetic effort, yes. but, i did have some great shanghai food today which makes it ok that i'm eating crap for din din. hopefully, my mom has deleted the email with the link to this blog.

saturday

eug came back pretty late on friday, so we didn't do anything that night. but on saturday, we went out for jason's bday. he's jamie's husband...oh yes, and our shipment finally came in earlier in the day! though not without some minor damage...well, our eames chair is all ripped up. and there's a small chip on our painting that we'll probably have to get restored at some point...

here we are at coyote, a mexican restaurant which is on lockhart street in wan chai. this street is lined with girly bars, filled with southeast asian girls and middle aged white guys looking for a good time.

towards the end of our dinner eug decided we should taste test some hot sauce. that was some hot shit. i dipped just one prong of my fork into i forget which sauce and that was enough to spread a nice flame across my tongue and the roof of my mouth for a good ten minutes. jamie and eug tried two of the hottest ones they carried in the restaurant. jamie paid for it - pretty funny stuff.

then we went bowling. it was fun, but man, we're getting old.

in cold blood

just finished reading the book today...and was curious to see what the two men looked like...so here they are. i'm a scaredy-cat and get spooked easily so not sure why i'm even looking into stuff like this. tho, i'm curious to see what perry smith's paintings look like. can't seem to find anything on google...

i fell asleep reading the book last night and woke up in the middle of the night from a nightmare...an old lady had me and these two kids trapped inside her house...it goes on but, creeping myself out thinking about it...

also smelled cigarette smoke in the house about half an hour ago...so did nancy clutter...

k, i'll stop now.

oh, and the book was excellent. i recommend it. and apparently, there were rumors that capote had a sexual relationship with smith while he was on death row...good ol' wikipedia!

J

been missing my nephew jordan a lot these past few days. he's the only grandchild in our family so far, and it is sad that none of us are nearby. luckily, he hasn't forgotten who i am yet.

here are some photos he took with his dad's camera a few months ago when he was still 3...

work

just got home from my first day of work. it was cool. not too crazy...someone showed me this spot for cadbury chocolates today...

wtf?
i mean, it's kinda cool. kinda funny. great song. but not sure what it has to do with chocolates. maybe that's the pt? that it has nothing to do with it and it gets people asking wtf? so, anyways, i can't not analyze ads. it's what i do, and it's very annoying to people watching tv with me, unless it's a dvd or been tivoed, of course. sorry.
