Eugene

Eugene was the inspiration for my very first two comic strips - the ones before the Deep Web one in the previous post. initially, i was racking my brain trying to think of something clever, smart, weird, whatever to draw and write about, but after learning about Harvey Pekar's quotidian life approach to his work i decided to look to my own and lo and behold humor in the form of my husband...in a good way, of course. i think i could prob get at least one good one a week...well, at least one good perspective on something, not sure if i will manage to translate that into a good cartoon. but we shall see.

my form is still pretty messy. my typeface isn't really thought out. to speech bubble or not to speech bubble? i'll just figure these things out as i go along. if i think too much of anything i'll get overwhelmed...but, anydoodles, here's the second one. hope you like it

Deep Web Cartooning

my first published comic strip! for eug's blog!

via eug's posterous on 2/11/09

With this very fine and inaugural cartoon, eug's webblog hereby goes legit. All's fair game for representational treatment (this one from this post) from here on out. Keanu's pizza delivery, post-greatness, pre-renaissance? Zoho's salacious love affair exposé? It's all coming up.

Mom's Blingee Bday

This is oddly ADDICTIVE! and great to fuss with when you just can't be bothered to get creative. also good for a lazy/hungover saturday afternoon. or perhaps a wine-filled evening at home alone or with friends. perhaps there could even be blingee gatherings. perhaps not. anyways, iz fun time fun times most any time

The Quotidian Life

I've been trying to improve my drawing skillz lately and have been really getting into comic book style illustrations...Daniel Clowes, Charles Burns, Ralph Steadman, R. Crumb...and when I saw the American Splendor titlle sequence on artofthetitle.com I googled Harvey Pekar and spent part of the day just looking at his work and reading interviews like this one...

anyways, i really liked this...

Badass Ladies

It all comes down to how you carry yourself. With confidence one can carry anything off.
I mean this is some serious new-rave gangster shit.
